Cité Planut is not in the middle of nowhere. It’s in Bertoua, in Eastern Cameroon. Here, the Cameroon Real Estate Company (SIC) commercially manages about a hundred social housing units. Many citizens are eager to access them. In addition to the numerous applications it receives, SIC sometimes faces disgruntled individuals who complain about a lack of transparency in the allocation of housing at Cité Planut. The situation helps to “shed light on the framework of the 3rd housing allocation session” held in the regional capital of the East on March 4, 2025.

Dedicated to examining applications for both rental and rent-to-own housing, the working session (chaired by the Governor of the East Region, Grégoire Mvongo) allowed local administrative authorities and SIC officials (including Director General Dr. Ahmadou Sardaouna) to work on a fair and transparent allocation of housing at Cité Planut. As arbitration tools, this 3rd housing allocation session used criteria such as the gender and age of applicants, the validity and protection of vulnerable persons, family situation, socio-professional category, and household income.

Through this rigorous approach, SIC reaffirms its commitment to housing access for all and inclusive urban development.
